The dissolution of Yugoslavia in 1992 broke the former Eastern European country into 6 present-day states: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia. Currently, each state has its own football league that is part of the UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) confederation. The leagues vary in strength: the top and bottom ranking former Yugoslavian football leagues, the Serbian Superliga and the Montenegrin First League, are 19th and 53rd in Europe respectively.
